Cenote, Sea Turtles and Beach Club Lunch in Playa del Carmen

Overview

This half-day excursion from Playa del Carmen combines the discovery of a Mayan cenote with an encounter with marine wildlife. The programme includes round-trip transport from most hotels in Cancun and the Riviera Maya, as well as snacks (water, fruit and crackers) on board the vehicle. The adventure begins with a swim in a cenote, a natural sinkhole with crystal-clear waters and characteristic rock formations. Snorkelling equipment (mask and snorkel) and a life jacket, which is mandatory, are provided to explore this site. The journey continues to the coastal village of Akumal for a snorkelling session. Accompanied by a bilingual guide, you will swim with sea turtles and various tropical fish in their natural habitat. The experience concludes with lunch at an exclusive beach club, where entry is included in the package.

1. First, we start of in one of the region’s magnificent mayan cenote, natural sinkholes that expose groundwater underneath, for a refreshing and exhilarating swim. Explore the underground natural pools with crystal-clear waters and awe-inspiring rock formations.

   Our second stop is the picturesque beach community of Akumal. Its laidback atmosphere, natural beauty and abundant marine life provide the perfect environment for some of the best snorkeling available in the Mayan Riviera. Joined by your informative guide you’ll have the opportunity to discover all the wonders that lay below the surface such as a huge variety of tropical fish, colorful coral and, of course, the sea turtles that call Akumal their home.
