Silves: The Medieval Charm of the Algarve

Overview

The Algarve's medieval charm can be found in its first capital: Silves! Between walls, legends and landscapes, we go from the castle to the market, from the castle to the cathedral, always between tradition and culture. The current capital of Orange is shrouded in legends and tales such as that of the Muslim princess who fell madly in love with the Christian warrior. With one of the largest and most important medieval castles in the Algarve, Silves is a must-see. A must-see, the castle, built under Arab rule, protected the city and allowed control of the region when it was conquered by King Sancho I and Count Afonso II from the Moors. Visit the imposing cathedral and the rich surrounding market.

1. Castelo de Silves

   We'll visit one of Algarve's main medieval castles. The visit inside the castle is not included. Prices at this time start at 2.80€.

   Visit Silves' rich market and discover local products.

Pickup

Pickup or meet at the departure point.

Pick-up and drop-off from your acomodation in Albufeira town centre. Pick-up and drop-off services outside central Albufeira will incur an additional charge of €5, which must be paid to the driver in cash. For pick-ups and drop-offs outside Albufeira, the price is on request. The pick up location must be confirmed with us at least 24 hours before departure, so that we can indicate the pick up time. If the vehicle have an unexpected breakdown during the tour, we will not refund the money, we will give the customer the opportunity to take the selected tour on another day.

How to use your ticket

This tour is not off road, therefore, the vehicle used to take this tour will be a Mercedes with air conditioning for greater customer comfort.

• We may change this program due to bad weather conditions for safety reasons.
• Children will be required to present an identification document to verify their age. Under our laws, the applicable age range mandates the use of age-appropriate safety seats.
