The drive from Bergen offers stunning landscapes, with views of the beautiful Osterfjord and fascinating stories from your guide along the way.
Dale
After about an hour, we make a short stop — a chance to stretch your legs and use the restroom. When opening hours allow, the break is arranged at Dalegarden Outlet and Kafe, a welcoming local shop which offers a variety of great goods from different suppliers at reduced prices.
Vossevangen
About thirty minutes later, we pass through Voss — a charming town in the heart of Western Norway — before the scenery becomes even more dramatic as we approach majestic mountains, spectacular waterfalls, and one of Norway’s most beautiful fjords.
Gudvangen
Gudvangen is a beautiful and authentic village, nestled deep within the UNESCO-listed Nærøyfjord — a place that feels truly Norwegian. Surrounded by towering mountains and cascading waterfalls, the village offers a calm and charming atmosphere. Gudvangen is also home to the famous Viking Village, which adds to its unique character and historical charm. Here you’ll have some free time to explore the area before we board the cruise boat.
Naeroyfjord
In Gudvangen, we board the boat that takes us onto the Nærøyfjord – one of Norway’s most beautiful and dramatic fjords. With steep mountain walls, narrow passages, and impressive landscapes, the fjord offers a quiet and unforgettable way to experience Norway’s nature. The Nærøyfjord is a branch of the Sognefjord and stretches for about 17 kilometres, with mountains rising up to 1,800 metres above sea level. As part of the UNESCO World Heritage list, this area stands as a remarkable example of Norway’s natural beauty. Sit back, relax, and take in the unspoiled nature around you! (From June 1st to August 31st, the fjord cruise starts at 11.00 AM)
Flam
Flåm is a small, scenic village located at the heart of the Aurlandsfjord, a branch of the majestic Sognefjord. Surrounded by steep mountains and waterfalls, it offers a peaceful atmosphere and some of the most beautiful scenery in the region.
Stegastein Viewpoint
Stegastein is a spectacular viewing platform that stretches 30 metres out from the mountainside, 650 metres above the Aurlandsfjord. From here, you’ll enjoy an incredible panoramic view of the fjord and the surrounding mountains – a favourite stop for both visitors and locals. The platform is part of the National Tourist Route between Aurland and Lærdal, offering a unique chance to experience Norway’s dramatic landscape up close. Occasionally, summer fog can reduce visibility at this height, but on such days we’ll make an alternative stop in Aurland.
Stalheim
After visiting Stegastein, we head back toward Bergen. On the way, we stop at the historic Stalheim Hotel, majestically located with panoramic views over the dramatic Nærøydalen Valley. The hotel has welcomed guests since the 1800s and holds a rich history, including royal visits and serving as a source of artistic inspiration. From May 1st to August 31st, we instead stop once more in Gudvangen for a well-deserved break at Gudvangen Fjordtell.
Tvindefossen
Tvindefossen is an impressive waterfall, dropping 116 meters in a beautiful display of multiple streams cascading down the cliff. The waterfall is surrounded by a legend claiming that its water has rejuvenating powers. This legend has made Tvindefossen one of Norway’s most visited natural attractions, welcoming thousands of visitors each year. (From June 1st to August 31st, we visit Tvindefossen on the return journey.)
