Winter Hike in Julian Alps

Overview

The first rays of the sun fall on the mountain walls and paint them red. Virgin white snow bleeps under your footsteps, the only thing you hear. You breathe in the sharp, fresh air and breathe out cold smoke. Tempted? Experience the beauty of the snowy Julian Alps and take a winter hike with us.

Activity itinerary

The hike will start at the 1300m high Pokljuka plateau. Our journey upward will begin with a hike through an enchanted winter forest, reaching a vast mountain pasture with picturesque shepherd’s cottages scattered all over the place. After a while, we will pass the forest line and reach a mountain hut for a short break. Then, we will continue on the snow-covered slopes of the mountain. In approximately two hours, we will reach the summit and see that all the effort was worth it. The view of the snow-covered Triglav, surrounding mountains and valleys, is one you definitely won’t forget. On our way back, we will stop again at the mountain hut and have a traditional Slovenian mountain lunch. How to use your ticket

What you should keep in mind and bring with you: -wear warm clothes e.g. fleece jackets, wind/waterproof jacket, hat, gloves as you would wear for walking in the winter - good walking boots/snow boots with gaiters or a pair of trousers with a snow cuff  Warning: The activity could be cancelled or postponed in case of bed weather forecast. Safety requirements: This activity is not recommended for people with heart issues or pregnant women. Minimal age: 8 years
