Cage Diving with Sharks in Gansbaai, Cape Town

Overview

Departing from Cape Town, head to Gansbaai for an encounter with sharks and other marine animals. This excursion takes you along the rugged coastline to observe majestic species in their natural habitat. The activity focuses on observing the bronze whaler shark, a species frequently encountered in this area known as the shark capital of the world. The trip also offers the chance to spot dolphins and various ocean creatures. The experience is led by a qualified and licensed team, ensuring participant safety while raising awareness about the protection of the marine ecosystem. Lunch, snacks, drinks (water, coffee, tea), and snorkeling equipment are included. Two options are available: a standard guided tour and an option that includes transport from Cape Town.

Activity itinerary

Our quests will have snacks at the dive center, change into their wetsuits and then head to the boat. After a short boat trip out to sea, we will begin to attract the sharks and the divers will get in the cage. No snorkeling or diving experience is required. Six divers are allowed in the cage at a time, and we will rotate divers. Keep your eyes open for a variety of marine life that may visit us! We are very often visited by our bronze whaler sharks and cape fur seals. Less frequent sightings include short-tail stingrays, sunfish, sevengill sharks and the great white shark. We often see southern right whales on the boat trip as well (depending on the season). Once back at the dive center, our guests will enjoy nice warm showers and a hearty lunch with a stunning view.
