Itinerary

1. Lismore

   Experience the heritage town of Lismore in County Waterford, admire its lovely setting on the banks of the River Blackwater at the foot of the Knockmealdown mountains. Take a stroll through this historic town and explore its many gems, including the medieval Lismore Cathedral. Enjoy stunning views of Lismore Castle from the river Blackwater.

2. Lismore Heritage Centre

   This wonderful heritage centre has something for everyone of all ages. Explore the beautiful Lismore Castle in a Virtual Reality Experience, try on some medieval clothing or even Escape one of the challenge rooms with friends at Robert Boyle Escape Rooms (prebooking the Escape Room recommended). The Virtual Reality Experience costs €10 per adult. The Heritage Centre is open all year. It closes on weekends and Bank Holidays from November through to March

3. Ardmore

   Ardmore is a hidden gem of a town popular with some Irish visitors. Set on the coastline overlooking a wonderful beach, why not enjoy a nice lunch at the Cliff House Hotel before taking a short stroll along the Cliffs overlooking the Celtic Sea/Atlantic. Before leaving Ardmore, visit the monastic site of St Declans Church as we continue our journey towards youghal.

4. Youghal

   No Visit to west Waterford, east Cork is complete without stopping at the medieval town of Youghal on the banks of the River Blackwater. Youghal played a role in defending the River from invasion and has some of the best examples of town walls in Ireland. Take a stroll along the medieval walls overlooking the town before soaking up some of the atmosphere along the main street with the Gate tower and Heritage Centre nearby.

5. Blackwater

   Travel back in time and enjoy a drive through the beautiful Blackwater valley through rural Irish towns of Youghal, Tallow, Lismore and villages like Ardmore and take in some of the majesty of the old buildings and structures along the way.
