Founded by the Spaniards in 1543, nowadays Antigua is a beautiful blend of ruins, restored colonial buildings, and new buildings in colonial style. It was declared “Monument of America” in 1965.

1. The Plaza (Centraal park)

   Our guide will tell you the history of the Central Plaza, which is the place where local people gather to have a nice time. The Central Plaza is surrounded with different cafes and restaurants.

2. La Merced

   The Church of La Merced is a Catholic temple located in the city of Antigua Guatemala in Guatemala. The architect Juan de Dios Estrada was in charge of its construction since 1749. The temple was inaugurated in 1767.

3. Arco de Santa Catalina

   The Santa Catalina Arch is one of the most recognizable places in the city of Antigua Guatemala. It is visited annually by thousands of tourists who flock to the city that has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

4. Casa Del Jade

   Visit a jade factory where this stone is worked into beautiful jewelry.

5. Kerk van San Francisco

   The Sanctuary of San Francisco el Grande was the first sanctuary built in the mid-16th century, but it was damaged in 1565 by a strong earthquake. The current church was built in 1702 by Diego de Porres and was destroyed by the earthquakes of 1717, 1751 and 1773.
