  1. Pirates Bay/Eaglehawk Neck

    Today is action packed and fast paced, so we make an early start from Hobart and drive directly to the stunning Tasman Peninsula. This area has amazing history, fascinating stories and spectacular scenery. It is also home to Australia’s highest sea cliffs. We enjoy the panoramic views of the area from Pirates Bay Lookout which provides a great vantage here of the surrounding area.

    Passing through Eaglehawk Neck and “The Dogline” our Tour Guides will share with you some amazing history and stories of the area.

  3. Waterfall Bay

    We begin one of Tasmania’s “Great Short Walks”. This is a short but spectacular track along the Waterfall Bay Clifftop. The walk is around 45 minutes, undulating and categorised as an easy walk. The track concludes at the remarkable rock formations of Tasman Arch and Devil’s Kitchen.

  4. Tasmanian Devil Unzoo

    Next stop is the Tasmanian Devil Unzoo. We enjoy all the action of a Tasmanian Devil Feeding. Watch the snarling, fighting and bone crushing in a spectacle of devilish behaviour during the feeding. Hand feed the wallabies and walk among the local wildlife in this charming “Unzoo” setting.

  5. Port Arthur

    Continuing our journey, we arrive at Port Arthur Historic Site. As we enter the Port Arthur Historic Site, there is a wealth of information and history to take in and to explore. Your entry includes a complimentary Harbour Cruise around the Isle of the Dead, ‘The Port Arthur Experience' a podcast that provides a fascinating introduction to the site, and complimentary site talks throughout the day led by Port Arthur’s expert guides . Discover the grim and violent history of the early Australian Penal system and get a sense of the isolation experienced by the convicts in this “inescapable prison”. With around 2.5 hours here, you have time to walk among the main penitentiary; see the solitary confinement cells and many more buildings in this World Heritage open air museum.

  6. On our return to Hobart, we travel via the historic township of Richmond. Arriving late the in the afternoon, you will have time to meander the streets, stop for a coffee, visit the Lolly Shop, Chocolatier and walk across Australia’s oldest bridge still in use – a convict built sand-stone bridge, reported to be haunted! We arrive back into Hobart around 6.00pm.

• Please make sure you bring a large refillable water bottle, closed sturdy shoes for walking. We recommend runners, sneakers, hiking boots and sensible clothes for outdoor conditions. Warm layers are a great idea! A waterproof rain jacket, just in case. • The Waterfall Bay cliff top walk takes around 30-45 minutes and is a gentle undulating trail. This walk is also optional. • There are many options for your lunch at the Port Arthur Historic Site. There are cafes and takeaway food options to suit your style and budget. You are welcome to bring your own food/snacks along with you for the day. • Your entry to Port Arthur Historic Site includes a complimentary Harbour Cruise around the Isle of the Dead, a downloadable Podcast to your own device introducing the site, and regular site talks held around Port Arthur that you can join

Meeting point

Our General Meet Point is the Tasmanian Travel & Information Centre at 20 Davey Street. The pickup time is 7:25am, be ready at 7:20am. The tour returns to this same location around 6.00pm.
