Classic Hot Air Balloon Flight over the Cradle of Humankind

Overview

This classic hot air balloon flight allows you to soar over Johannesburg and its surroundings, specifically the Cradle of Humankind or the Magaliesberg. The experience begins with a meeting at the 5 Star Lodge, where tea and coffee are served, followed by a transfer to the launch site to watch the balloon inflation. The flight lasts approximately 1 hour, providing panoramic views of the African landscapes. Following tradition, the flight is celebrated with sparkling wine and orange juice. Upon landing, the pilot presents flight certificates to the participants. The activity concludes with a full buffet breakfast served at the 5 Star Lodge. The entire experience takes about 3 hours. Accommodation is not included, although combined flight and stay packages are available upon request.

Activity itinerary

In line with traditional balloon flights, our Classic Flight offers guests the serene beauty of floating gently over the Cradle of Humankind or the Magaliesberg,The pilot allows the hot air balloon at times to drift at tree top height and at other times will ascend into the skies, offering guests a panoramic view of the beautiful African landscape below. We have air balloon launch sites located in the Cradle of Humankind and the Magaliesberg that have been chosen for their close vicinity to the majority of lodges in the area. Alternatively, we will launch from any lodge that is more convenient to the client, providing that the lodge has adequate space for the launching of passenger balloons.
