Itinerary

1. Miradouro do Pico Vermelho

   Located in the parish of Arrifes, the city of Ponta Delgada, this viewpoint offers a very wide view of the mountains of the Seven Cities Massif and the north and south sides of the island. There is also a vast extent of volcanic cones that extend from the municipality of Ponta Delgada to the municipality of Ribeira Grande, always having as a background several lagoons. You can see the Pico da Vara (the highest point of the island), the Volcano do Fogo, the Serra Gorda and other places, as you can see in the panel available at the miradour.

2. Lagoa do Canario

   This lagoon is in the Serra Devassa housed in a volcanic crater. Its altitude ratio relative to sea level is at 800 meters and is surrounded by typical macaronesia forests and cryptomeria plantations. Near this lagoon is the Miradouro of the Canary Lagoon.

3. Vista do Rei Miradouro

   This viewpoint is so named, because in the summer of 1901, King Charles I and Queen Amelia visited it. Offers stunning views of the Seven Cities Crater, with the Seven Cities Lagoon as the background. It is one of the most famous postcards in the Azores.

4. Miradouro do Cerrado das Freiras

   It offers views of the Seven Cities Lagoon, with the Seven Cities parish as the background.

5. Miradouro Da Lagoa De Santiago

   The Lagoon of Santiago that is related to the volcanic formation of the Seven Cities Mass. It is presented as a deep lagoon located in the Serra Devassa, at the bottom of a volcanic crater. Its altitude ratio relative to sea level is 334 meters. It has a length of 700 meters, a width of 475 meters by a depth of 29 meters. It is surrounded by typical macaronesia forests and cryptomeria plantations. It is close to the Miradouro of the Canary Lagoon.

6. Lagoa Verde / Lagoa das Sete Cidades

   The boiler was formed by successive collapses of rocks and pebbles, and has an area of approximately 4.3 km, maximum depth of 29 meters. It is one of the largest killing boilers in the world.

7. Miradouro da Ponta do Escalvado

   Built on a cliff, the Miradouro do Escalvado is one of the ideal places to contemplate the sea and enjoy one of the most beautiful sunsets on the island of São Miguel. It offers a fantastic view of two references to the natural landscape of the municipality of Ponta Delgada: the Ponta da Ferraria and the Monastery Islands.

8. Ceramica Viera

   By the late 15th century, the Azorians used pieces of olaria made on the islands, with Hispanic-Mourian influence. An example of this was the red clay straw from the island of Santa Maria, which served as a water reservoir in the kitchens of Santa Maria and São Miguel. In the Lagoa, there are memories of small olaries of red clay, similar to those existing on the island of Santa Maria and Vila Franca do Campo. This was even before the foundation of the first glass dish factory, created by Bernardino da Silva in 1862, in Porto dos Carneiros da Lagoa. This factory, named Cerâmica Vieira, is one of the few industrial and artistic heritage that has survived over five family generations. Its production continues to be artisanal and its decoration, in addition to the traditional drawings, is left to the free will of the craftsmen of the factory. Its dishes have a very characteristic decor, where the blue color predominates. They are commonly known as “LOUÇA DA LAGOA”.

9. Lagoa do Fogo

   The Lagoon of Fire is one of the most impressive natural treasures on the island of São Miguel. It is a lagoon of volcanic origin that, since 1974, is protected as a natural reserve. It is located in the interior of the island of São Miguel, at the bottom of the crater of an extinct volcano, within the great volcanic mass of the Serra de Água de Pau. ​​ This lagoon is the highest on the island, about 575 meters above sea level. In addition, it is very large; it measures approximately 2 km long and 1 km wide, with a total area of 1,360 hectares. Isn't that impressive? In fact, in 2012, Praia da Lagoa do Fogo was recognized as one of the 7 wonders of Portugal in the category of "wild beach".

10. Plantação de Ananás dos Açores

    The plantations of pineapples, mostly located in the Parish of Fajã de Baixo, county of Ponta Delgada. Some of these pineapple plantations were designed and structured in the early century. XX, in an old orange farm that left out of activity.
