Itinerary

1. Kairaouine Mosque

   The al-Qarawiyyin mosque, a religious school / college was founded by Fatima al-Fihri in 859 with an associated school, or madrasa, which subsequently became one of the leading spiritual and educational centers of the historic Muslim world. It was incorporated into Morocco’s modern state university system in 1963. It is the oldest existing, continually operating and the first degree awarding educational institution in the world according to UNESCO and Guinness World Records and is sometimes referred to as the oldest university

2. School Bounania is the most famous school in the Moroccan city of Fez, built by Sultan Abu Inan Faris ibn Abi-Hassan Marini between 1350-1355. The school plays an educational role, also it provide accommodation for students.

3. Place Seffarine

   One of the most charming and authentic places of Fez is composed mostly of coppersmiths stalls. Within this same square are the library of the University Al Qaraouiyine and madrasah of the same name (Seffarine) built by Sultan Marinid Abu Youssef in 1280. The coppersmiths and tinkers are grouped around the square and adjacent streets. It insists, it shines, it marketable.

4. Médina de Fès

   The Fez Medina is an incredible place made up of beautiful historical buildings that date back to medieval times. These well preserved buildings include mosques, palaces, fountains and residential homes. The oldest university in the world is also located in the Medina of Fez. These old buildings are surrounded by eight kilometers of fortified walls that were built in an attempt to keep invaders out of the city. The Fez Medina is also one of the most complex labyrinth cities in the world, with houses and shops built close together along tangled streets making it near impossible for visitors to find their own way around.

5. Bab Bou Jeloud

   But Bab Boujloud is much more than just a handy reference point on a map. Its glittering mosaic tiles and grand archway have made it one of Morocco’s most famed gateways and a sight you definitely won’t want to miss as you discover the city of Fez.

6. Chouara Tannery

   The Chaouwara tanneries are one of the city’s most iconic sights (and smells), offering a unique window into the pungent, natural process of producing world-class leather using methods that have changed little since medieval times.
