Last but not least, you will also get to know Nazaré itself, a one-of-a-kind traditional fishing village, its narrow alleys facing the sea, and its old traditions like the “Dry Fish” and the puzzling “sights” of local women wearing their famous seven skirts. You also explore the most charming medieval town of Óbidos with an experienced and knowledgeable guide who will take you through the history and tales, the streets and alleys, the castle and the churches, the fine art, and (last but not least) the sweet and authentic tastes of this ancient Portuguese land (the famous Ginjinha de Óbidos- on a chocolate cup!). Praia do Norte
Have you heard about the biggest waves in the world? So its time to visit where they end!
Forte de Sao Miguel
With a mannerist style, the São Miguel Arcanjo Fort began to be built in 1577 by D. Sebastião. In 1644, King D. João IV, the Restorer, ordered its remodeling and enlargement. With a privileged location, near the Nazaré promontory, it is currently considered the main observation post of the giant waves at Praia do Norte, which turned Nazaré into a world surf reference. The Fort currently houses the Nazaré Interpretive Center, the Surfer Wall and several periodic expositive contents. Translated with www.DeepL.com/Translator (free version)
