Itinerary

1. Soak up vistas of the sprawling Southern California coast on your smooth 1-hour ride to the island. Located 22 miles (35 km) off the coast, Catalina Island (formally Santa Catalina Island) is a world away from the hustle and bustle of the mainland, a picture-perfect destination full of charming beaches, palm trees and rolling hills. When you arrive in Avalon, the island’s largest city, take a 15-minute walk to meet your expert guide at the zipline launch spot.

2. Green Pleasure Pier

   Explore the famous Green Pier and try the restaurants.

3. After a safety briefing, strap in and get ready for an exciting adventure! Beginning at the Hog's Back gate high in the hills near Avalon, you’ll travel on five consecutive ziplines at heights of 300 feet (91 meters) above the Descanso Canyon floor. Feel your adrenaline rush as you reach speeds of up to 45 mph (72 kph)! Pause at several eco-stations along the way for interesting and informative presentations by your guide on some of the unique and interesting aspects of the island. Learn about the early Native American settlers and about how plants and animals arrived on the island. Did you know that Catalina is home to at least fifty endemic species that occur naturally on the island and nowhere else in the world?

4. Your 2-hour zipline adventure ends at Descanso Beach where you'll have time to relax. Then, reminisce on your fun, scenic experience on the relaxing ferry ride back to Long Beach, where you’ll be picked up and taken back to your hotel.

Pickup

Pickup or meet at the departure point.

8:00am to 8:15am - Hotel pick-up time. Transfer you to Catalina Express, Long Beach Landing Check in at the ticket counter for your boarding passes 9:50am - boat departs for Catalina Island, Avalon 11:00am - Arrive Avalon, Catalina Island. Zipline - between 11:45am and 1:00pm Zipline start time. Total tour duration is inclusive of hotel pickup and drop-off, round-trip ferry ride and Zipline Eco Tour. 3:55pm - boat departs Avalon (6:30pm departure option, summer season only. Request at check out or contact Karmel Shuttle's Extreme tours. Provide the agent with your Viator confirmation number.

How to use your ticket

Your tour package is processing. You will receive a separate email from Karmel Shuttle’s Extreme Tours containing your Hotel pick-up times, Ferry/Boat time & Zipline Start time. The email will contain instructions for each leg of your trip. If you have not received an email confirmation from Karmel Shuttle’s Extreme Tours, you MUST confirm with them by calling or TEXT 714-670-3480 or email extremetours@karmel.com a minimum of 48 hours prior to the tour date. Failure to contact them may result in no availability, cancellation, or a No Show of your tour, without refund. Cancelling less than 48 hours prior to tour date or a “no show” will forfeit the full price of the tour. Please be out front of your hotel and ready 10 minutes prior to the scheduled pick-up time. Note: Driver and Zipline Guide Gratuity is not included in the tour price! Package Provided by Extreme Tours! Shuttle transfers are with KARMEL SHUTTLE SERVICE. Ferry Transfers are with Catalina Express, Long Beach Landing terminal ZipLine Tour with Santa Catalina Island Company. Important information: Participants must be at least 10 years of age and weigh at least 80lbs (36 kg) to Zipline solo • Those weighing less than 80 lbs must ride in tandem with another participant. Children ages 5 to 9 years must ride in tandem with a parent or guardian who is at least 18 years. Children under 5 years of age are not allowed. • Individual and combined tandem weights cannot exceed 240lbs (109kg) • Close toed shoes required – athletic shoes recommended. Zip Line management cancellation may occur due to unsafe weather conditions (tour refund or rescheduled for Zipline portion of your tour only).

• Restrooms are not available while on Zipline tour. Go before you go.

• Get off the boat and make your way to Descanso Beach Club where you will find the check in for Zipline Eco Tour. Ask any local!
• This is a 2-hour experience, not counting the 20 minutes required for checking in before the tour begins.
• Guests must be at least 55 inches tall.
• Guests must weigh between 80 lbs - 240 lbs and will be weighed before zipline activity.
• NO TANDEMS.
• Long shorts or pants are suggested. No skirts, belly shirts or bathing suits.
• Participants must be at least 7 years of age. Children 18 and under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian for the duration of the tour.
• Transportation from the beach club to the Cruise ship at the end of the tour is not provided. The walk is approximately 15 minutes. Guests participating in these activities do so at their own risk.
