Aguas Calientes
Your certified Willka Travel guide will meet you at the location of your choice in Aguas Calientes whether it's your hotel, the train station, or directly at the main entrance of Machu Picchu. Once your booking is confirmed, please get in touch with us to coordinate the exact meeting time and place. If you're staying overnight in Machu Picchu town, our guide will meet you the evening before your tour to go over all the final details and ensure you're fully prepared for the experience the next day.
Aguas Calientes
From Aguas Calientes, you’ll take a scenic 30-minute bus ride up the mountain to the entrance gate of Machu Picchu. Don’t forget to bring your original passport and entrance ticket both are required for entry
Machu Picchu
Once inside, your licensed private guide will tailor the tour to your interests and pace. Depending on your preferences and entry time, you may begin with a short hike offering stunning panoramic views depending of the circuit. Then, dive into the heart of Machu Picchu as your guide explains the fascinating history, engineering, and spiritual significance of this ancient site. Visit iconic landmarks such as: The Temple of the Sun, The Main Plaza, Agricultural Terraces, Royal Residences and Ritual Areas, Incan aqueducts and stone pathways all with the depth only a private guided tour can offer. Once your guided experience concludes, you’re free to explore the citadel on your own (as long as your ticket and circuit allow), or take the return bus to Aguas Calientes to catch your train back to Cusco.

We will assist you with this process. In cases of extreme congestion, a 2-day early arrival may be required. Please see the legal notice below. If you book at least 3 to 4 months in advance, we will secure the best circuits for you, such as Circuit 2 or the Royal Designed Circuit. Online tickets for Machu Picchu frequently sell out months in advance. However, the Cultural Office in Aguas Calientes holds 1,000 tickets per day for in-person purchase only. If online tickets are unavailable for your selected date, you must arrive very early the day before your tour to present your passport and secure your ticket in person. Depending on the level of visitor congestion, the Ministry of Culture may require visitors to arrive two days in advance. Our local team, based in Aguas Calientes, is actively monitoring ticket availability and will provide you with timely updates. We’ll guide you on exactly when to arrive and assist with any necessary changes to your hotel or train reservations. On arrival, your guide will meet you in Aguas Calientes and help you through the entire process. Please note: June , July, and most of August 2025 are already sold out for advance online reservations. Guests traveling during this period will need to follow the in-person ticket process above. Our priority is to make sure you access Machu Picchu, and we are committed to doing everything possible to secure your entry.
