Jinguashi is famous for its former gold mines — tour the Thirteen Ruins, an abandoned refinery overlooking the striking Yin Yang Sea. The coastal town of Jiufen is said to be the inspiration for Spirited Away; wander its narrow cobblestone streets and stop at the Amei Teahouse, a traditional teahouse perched over the hillside. Then board the scenic Pingxi Line through misty mountain valleys before arriving in Shifen to release sky lanterns into the sky.
