Bicerin, which in Piedmont means "glass", is the name of a typical non-alcoholic drink from Turin, which originates from another 18th century drink called "bavareisa". Vitel tonnè with a glass of wine, contrary to what one might think, is not originally from France but is very Italian: the term vitel tonnè comes from the Piedmontese dialect. Cheeses occupy a very important part of the Piedmontese enogastronomic heritage because there are more than hundreds and many of them have acquired over the years the designation DOP and DOC.
