Relaxed, yet luxurious learning experience about Williamsburg before and after the restoration of Colonial Williamsburg in the late 1920s and early 1930s with photos and stories from either Williamsburg Before and After or Restoring Williamsburg. These photos help visualize and better understand the restoration of the world’s largest history museum. Most of the tour is seated during breakfast for those who enjoy the warmth (or air conditioning) indoors. This is an easily accessible tour, well suited for those who enjoy a creative culinary experience, breakfast on bad weather days or for any individuals with physical limitations. Our guide will offer an easy tour of some of the grounds including a look at the Golden Horseshoe Golf courses or admire some of the original décor of the hotel and grounds as well as a short walk to the Duke of Gloucester St., the most historic street in America. Note: Guests pay for their own breakfast including food, drinks and gratuities to hotel staff.
Choose your option when you book.
Private breakfast (your group only, max of 6) to discover and learn about Williamsburg before and after the restoration of Colonial Williamsburg in the late 1920s and early 1930s. Learn about the men and women (e.g., Reverend W.A.R. Goodwin, philanthropists John Rockefeller, Jr. and, his wife, Abby Rockefeller and others) who recreated the birthplace of America, the Colonial Capital of the original 13 Colonies and understand why Virginia was the first to declare it’s independence from Great Britain. Breakfast is at the iconic Williamsburg Inn where former Queen Elizabeth II, current King Charles III, US presidents and others have dined. Tour some of the grounds including a look at the Golden Horseshoe Golf courses, admire the decorations, furniture, chandeliers, etc. If desired, guide will provide a map and walk you to the most historic street noted by President Franklin Roosevelt - the Duke of Gloucester Street. Due to cost of the book and fees, there is a minimum of 2 people. This is an easy accessible tour that is perfect when there is bad weather or handicapped guests. NOTE: GUESTS SELF PAY FOR THEIR OWN BREAKFAST INCLUDING FOOD, DRINKS, AND GRATUITIES TO RESTAURANT STAFF.
We will meet in the lobby of The Williamsburg Inn (136 Street East, Williamsburg, VA 23815) to begin our tour and end tour on grounds or nearby Duke of Gloucester Street (if desired). Parking for the hotel is free using Passport App (Zone 75755). NOTE: GUESTS SELF PAY FOR MEAL AND GRATUITIES.
The return is at the same place.
