Overview

This half-day excursion takes you to Hartley’s Crocodile Adventures, a wildlife park located between Cairns and Port Douglas. The programme includes a scenic boat cruise through the lagoon to spot crocodiles on the riverbanks, as well as the Crocodile Attack show, demonstrating the power of these reptiles. The park is organised into five distinct zones where Australian wildlife is presented in its natural environment. You can take part in guided walks, talk with the keepers, and attend educational presentations about the animals. Two transport options are available depending on where you are staying: pick-up and return for guests in Cairns, Palm Cove, or Trinity Beach, and a specific option for those staying in Port Douglas.

1. Hartley's Crocodile Adventures

   Located north of Cairns, Hartley’s Crocodile Adventures is the best place to see crocodiles and Australian wildlife in Tropical North Queensland. Walk along the timber boardwalks and pathways, through woodlands and rainforest to see an array of tropical birds, reptiles, insects and other native fauna. Start your adventure with a boat cruise exploring the Melaleuca wetlands, home to the estuarine (saltwater) crocodile. Then, explore the different zones of the park at your leisure. There are entertaining and educational wildlife presentations to enjoy each day. (See below for times.) Watch the notorious ‘head shake’ and ‘death roll’ at the Crocodile Attack educational show, see some of the world’s most venomous snakes, and help feed the koala’s and cassowaries.
