Musee Public National de Cherchell
The Cherchell National Museum in Algeria showcases a rich collection of Roman and Greek antiquities, including statues, mosaics, and inscriptions from the ancient cities of Caesarea Mauretaniae and Tipasa. Highlights include marble statues of Juno, Venus, and Bacchus, reflecting the region's Phoenician, Roman, and Byzantine heritage. The museum offers valuable insight into Algeria’s classical past and the influence of the Roman Empire in North Africa.
Crossing the national road from the esplanade, we encounter the El Rahman Mosque, distinguished by an unconventional architectural style reminiscent of an ancient temple with Ionic capitals.
Cherchell
Continuing south through a narrow alley of the town, we reach the Great Theatre, then the Forum. We return along the national road to the Gate of Tenes, ending our visit at the Great Western Thermal Baths.
Ruines Romaines Tipaza
Discover Arenas, Theatres and Temples ruins of one of the important Mediterranean roman cities and learn more about how they used to live.
Royal Mausoleum of Mauretania
It is a grand circular tomb built in the 1st century BC. Believed to be the burial site of King Juba II and Queen Cleopatra Selene II, it blends Egyptian, Greek, and Roman architectural styles. The massive stone structure, with a diameter of 60 meters and a height of 40 meters, remains a significant historical and archaeological landmark, reflecting the rich cultural heritage of ancient Mauretania.
