Full-day Colca Canyon excursion from Arequipa

Overview

Depart from Arequipa for a full day dedicated to discovering the Colca Canyon, one of the deepest in the world. Accompanied by a guide speaking English or Spanish, you will explore the spectacular landscapes of the Peruvian Andes and go birdwatching for the Andean condor, the sacred bird of the region. The journey takes place in an air-conditioned vehicle with a group of up to 25 people. The day includes a simple breakfast (bread, scrambled eggs, jam, butter, tea, coffee and fruit juice) as well as a buffet lunch featuring traditional dishes made from Andean products. The programme includes an itinerary through the canyon with the option of an optional 30-minute hike along the cliffs to admire the panoramas. Pick-up service is included in the package.

Itinerary

1. Abra Patapampa

   You will have the opportunity to take photos and enjoy the view of the Andes mountain range from about 4900 meters.

2. Salinas y Aguada Blanca National Reserve

   Travelers will have the chance to stop and see Alpacas and Vicuñas in their natural habitat. Also, with a little luck, travelers may have the chance to see Andean foxes and other wildlife.

3. Condor's Cross

   You will have one hour at the Condor Cross viewpoint to walk along Colca Canyon's rim and look for Andean condors! There is a condor nesting site near by and it is common to see several condors flying at above the canyon at once.

Pickup

Pickup included.

We pick up clients at 3am from hotels and hostels in Arequipa's city center. We can also pick you up from Arequipa's Plaza de Armas if your hotel, hostel or AirBnB is not located in the city center.
