Materuni Waterfalls
Your day begins with pickup from Arusha, Moshi or nearby areas before driving to Materuni Village on the lush foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro. Enjoy a guided walk through banana farms, coffee plantations, and tropical rainforest leading to the spectacular 80-meter Materuni Waterfall. Along the trail, your guide will share insights into Chagga culture, village life, local farming traditions, and the surrounding nature. On clear days, there is also a chance to enjoy beautiful views of Mount Kilimanjaro. After the hike, return to the village for an interactive Chagga coffee experience where you will learn how coffee is grown, roasted, ground, and prepared using traditional methods. Guests are invited to participate in the process while enjoying local songs, dances, and freshly prepared organic coffee from the village. A traditional local lunch is served before continuing to your cultural experience.
After Materuni, continue to Ewangani Maasai Village, is more accessible and offers a light introduction to Maasai culture. Hosted by local Maasai community members, the experience includes traditional homes, dances, beadwork, livestock culture, fire-making techniques, and storytelling about Maasai traditions. The focus is on relaxed cultural exchange where guests can learn naturally and should not feel pressured to purchase souvenirs. After the visit, return comfortably to your hotel or airport.
