Sumapaz Mountaintop Páramo Trek - 3 hours

Overview

Experience this high-altitude ecosystem at 3800 meters of altitude filled with unique fauna and flora found nowhere else outside the Andes. A visit to a nature reserve in the Páramo of Sumapaz will make you feel like you have stepped onto another planet. This trek is of high difficulty. It requires that you are in good physical condition due to the low air pressure present above 3500 m.a.s.l. The trails are uneven, steep and muddy most of the time. The elevation gain for this trek is about 400 meters, starting at 3400 meters and reaching 3800 m.a.s.l. Keep in mind that each hour you spend hiking at high altitudes is the equivalent effort of two hours at sea level. Note: This is not a private tour but a GROUP tour and you COULD join other travelers at any moment during the tour

Pickup

Pickup or meet at the departure point.

We can wait a maximum of 15 minutes past the schedule pick-up time. Drop-off is at the same location. Late arrivals and no shows forfeit their payment. We only offer pickup service South of Parque 93 (not including Usaquen area).

How to use your ticket

Things to Bring: - Rain gear recommended (rain jacket or poncho) - Hiking/rain boots (no open-toed shoes) - Warm clothing (hats, gloves, sweaters) - Long pants (no short pants) The average temperature is 10ºC, but it can drop down to 5ºC very rapidly depending on cloud cover. You could also experience the full strength of the sun with temperatures close to 18ºC. The weather on the mountaintop is unpredictable. Please be prepared for the posibility of cold WIND and RAIN.

• Anybody between the ages of 10 to 69 years-old can join. We are happy to arrange a customized hike should you have a visual or hearing impairment. Make sure to estrictly follow our age limitation guidelines for your own safety
• This activity can accommodate a maximum of 17 travelers.
• You will receive confirmation at the time of booking, unless you book less than 216 hours before departure: it will then arrive as soon as possible, subject to availability.
