Depart from Fukuoka and begin your journey toward the mystical landscapes of Miyazaki, where nature, mythology, and cultural heritage come together in one of Kyushu’s most atmospheric regions. As you travel through changing scenery of mountains, forests, and rural valleys, the experience gradually shifts into a peaceful and scenic countryside escape.
Kamishikimi Kumanoimasu Shrine
Your first stop is Kamishikimi Kumanoimasu Shrine, followed by Tsukimawari Park, where you will walk along a mystical forest pilgrimage path illuminated by nearly 100 lanterns. The atmosphere feels cinematic and otherworldly as you step deeper into the forest. During cherry blossom season (late March to early April), the area becomes even more scenic with approximately 100 blooming cherry trees enhancing the landscape. Please note that seasonal conditions such as weather or blossom timing may affect visibility, and some areas may be adjusted for safety or operational reasons. The time include the travel time
Amanoiwato Shrine
Continue to Amano Iwato Shrine, a sacred site deeply connected to Japanese mythology, followed by Amano Yasukawara, a spiritual cave area where visitors traditionally stack stones and make wishes for good fortune. Surrounded by natural rock formations and forest scenery, this area offers a calm and meaningful cultural experience. The order or timing of visits may be adjusted depending on local conditions to ensure a smooth itinerary.
Takachiho Gorge
Arrive at Takachiho Gorge, one of Japan’s most iconic natural attractions, and enjoy free time to explore at your own pace. This dramatic gorge is known for its towering basalt cliffs, clear river, and the famous Manai Falls, ranked among Japan’s Top 100 Waterfalls. Walk scenic paths and viewpoints including Takachiho Sandanbashi Bridge and the Sennin no Byobuiwa rock formations rising up to 70 meters. Relax, take photos, and enjoy the natural scenery without feeling rushed. Guests may optionally experience the Takachiho Gorge boat ride (subject to availability, weather, and river conditions). To improve availability during peak seasons, boat tickets can be optionally reserved online up to two weeks in advance. This helps secure your preferred time slot, though operation always depends on safety and weather conditions. This stop is the highlight of the tour and one of the most breathtaking landscapes in Kyushu.
After a full day exploring Takachiho Gorge, Amano Iwato Shrine, and the surrounding mythological sites, relax on your scenic return journey to Fukuoka. As you travel back through the peaceful landscapes of Kyushu, you will pass through rural valleys, mountain scenery, and quiet countryside views that offer a final moment to reflect on the day’s experiences. This comfortable drive allows you to unwind after a day of walking and exploration while enjoying the natural beauty of the region from a different perspective. The return journey provides a calm conclusion to your adventure, giving you time to rest, take in the scenery, and recall the highlights of Takachiho’s dramatic cliffs, sacred shrines, and mythological landmarks before arriving back in Fukuoka.
