2. Alikes Salt Lakes Tigaki

   The protected area of ​​Alykes is located between the coastal villages of Tigaki and Marmari on the north side of the island of Kos. It was a sea salt production site until 1989 with an annual production from 1944 to 1987 that ranged from 900 to 3500 tons.Pelicans and herons are some of the bird species found among water turtles and water snakes throughout the year. Flamingos visit the area from late autumn to early spring, and their population as well as the time of stay depends on weather conditions and the water level. Alykes is a member of the Natura 2000 protected regions network. 4. Paradise Beach

   Paradise Beach lies right in the middle of Kefalos Bay and is one of the most popular beaches on the island. The expansive shore features silky golden sand and the turquoise waters run clear and are relatively calm. As you swim in the sea you will be able to see tiny bubbles rising from the seabed on account of the area's proximity to the volcano on the island of Nisyros.
