Start your day with us in the charming lakeside village of Virpazar, the gateway to Lake Skadar’s internationally renowned bird reserve. As the sun rises and the lake awakens, you’ll step aboard a traditional wooden boat - just as locals have for generations - to explore one of Europe’s richest bird habitats. This is the best time for bird-watching: the water is calm, the air is fresh, and hundreds of bird species are at their most active. Whether you’re a seasoned ornithologist or love the peace of nature, you’ll be captivated by sights like elegant herons, flocks of cormorants gliding over the water, and even the majestic Dalmatian pelican - but for this sighting bring some luck.

Itinerary

1. Virpazar

   We will meet in Virpazar, the heart of National Park Lake Skadar.

2. Lesendro Fortress is first on the list, a favourite place for birds ''to hang out''.

3. Moraca River

   We will head to Morača River, an Important bird and biodiversity area.

   · 30 min

4. The three wild islands are next, a perfect place to spot our avian friends. After that, we will head back to Virpazar.

How to use your ticket

Ticket to be presented at the departure point

Join us at the Kingfisher information desk near the central bridge in Virpazar. Search for "Kingfisher Boat & Kayak - Lake Skadar, P16, Virpazar, Montenegro" on Google Maps (not just "P16, Virpazar, Montenegro" - it will show the incorrect address). Exchange this voucher for your boat ticket at the location. Check-in is 15 minutes before the scheduled departure time. If you are running late for check-in, please notify us immediately via WhatsApp message. Send us your name, scheduled departure time, and estimated arrival time. Please note that the info desk is the designated meeting point, and you should arrive there only after parking and being ready to start the tour. If you have trouble finding a parking space, please search "Parking Virpazar" on Google Maps. Also note that parking is free and public throughout the village (except for the one near De'Andros Hotel). Avoid unauthorised operators at the entrance and on the street who may offer services or say the parking is private; decline their offers and park your car freely.
