4. Sienne

The marble mosaic inlay and sgraffito floor cover the entire floor of the cathedral, making it the most ornate interior building in Italy. The marble came from nearby Carrara and Verona. About forty artists and craftsmen created the floor and worked on it from the 14th to the 16th century.
