Full-Day Machu Picchu Train Excursion from Cusco

Overview

This full-day excursion from Cusco allows you to visit the Machu Picchu citadel by combining road and rail transport. The journey crosses the Sacred Valley of the Incas to reach the town of Aguas Calientes, the starting point for the ascent to the archaeological site. The programme includes shared transport between Cusco and Ollantaytambo, as well as the tourist train to Aguas Calientes. Transport for ascending and descending Machu Picchu is also included, along with the entrance ticket for the Classic Circuit (or subject to availability). Four options are available: private tours in French or Portuguese (from 2 people), a guided group option, or a personalised private guide service lasting 3 hours. All options include a pick-up service. Professional guide accompaniment is provided for the visit to Machu Picchu. The return journey follows the same route: train from Aguas Calientes to Ollantaytambo, then transport back to Cusco.

Itinerary

1. Cusco

   Our adventure to Machu Picchu in 1 Day, begins early with the pick up from your hotel in Cusco around 3:00 a.m. then we go in our shared transport to the town of Ollantaytambo in a trip of approximately 1 hour and a half to two hours, where we will pass through the impressive Sacred Valley of the Incas.

2. Upon arrival at the Ollantaytambo station, we will go to the station door, where we will show our train tickets and then we will board our train to Aguas Calientes in a wonderful trip of about 2 hours. On the way we will appreciate beautiful landscapes typical of the Sacred Valley.

3. Aguas Calientes

   Upon arrival at the town of Machupicchu, around 7:00 a.m. We will meet our guide or staff in charge of advising us on the steps we must follow to visit the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu. (You will have time to have breakfast in the town of Aguas Calientes).

4. Machu Picchu

   Then we will go to the CONSETTUR bus station to go up to Machu Picchu, then we will be able to enter together with our guide and take a 2-hour guided tour, where we will visit the main sectors in Machu Picchu and of course have the popular photo of Machu Picchu with the best views. (The time of entry to Machu Picchu will be according to availability).

5. Ollantaytambo

   After the visit, you can visit Wayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain if you have your entrance ticket. After the visit to Machu Picchu we will descend to the town of Aguas Calientes and we will have time for lunch and later we will be returning by train to Ollantaytambo.

6. Cusco

   Finally we will return in a shared car to the city of Cusco. The time of arrival in Cusco will depend on the train ticket that must be consulted with the Travel Agent in charge.
