Full-Day Machu Picchu Excursion from Cusco

Overview

This full-day excursion takes you from your hotel in Cusco to the Machu Picchu citadel. The journey includes a transfer to the bus station, a bus ride to Ollantaytambo, and then a scenic train trip (Expeditions or Vistadome) through impressive landscapes to Aguas Calientes. Once there, you will have a 2.5 to 3-hour guided tour of the archaeological site. Depending on the option chosen, you will explore different routes: Circuit 3B (temples and terraces), the 1B Panoramic Route, Classic Circuit 2 for the panoramic view, or Circuit 1A (Machu Picchu Mountain). The package includes park entrance tickets, round-trip shuttles between Aguas Calientes and Machu Picchu, and return transport to your hotel in Cusco. Free time is provided in Aguas Calientes for lunch at local restaurants, as meals are not included.

Itinerary

1. Cusco

   At 4:30 a.m., we will pick you up from your hotel and transfer you to the Ollantaytambo train station to board the train to Machu Picchu.

2. Ollantaytambo

   Around 7:20 a.m., we’ll take the train to Machu Picchu, enjoying the beautiful landscapes along the way to the Inca citadel.

3. Aguas Calientes

   Upon arrival in Machu Picchu, our local representative will be waiting to welcome you and provide important instructions before taking the bus ride to the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu. After exploring this World Wonder, you’ll have free time to enjoy a delicious lunch at local restaurants near Machu Picchu before returning.

4. Machu Picchu

   At the Machu Picchu entrance gate, we will present our tickets to enter the Inca citadel together with our professional guide. Alongside our guide, we’ll enjoy a 2.5-hour guided tour of Machu Picchu, exploring its most iconic sites: the Guardian’s House, offering a breathtaking panoramic view of Machu Picchu and Huayna Picchu; the stone quarry, the Temple of the Sun, the Temple of the Three Windows, as well as the agricultural and urban sectors. After the guided tour, you’ll have about one hour of free time to relax and take in the magic of the Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu before boarding the bus back to Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu Town). By 4:12 p.m., we will meet at the Machu Picchu train station for our return trip to Ollantaytambo. Upon arrival in Ollantaytambo, our private transfer will be waiting to take you back to Cusco City, ending the tour at your hotel in Cusco.
